We're Not Listening
The pervasive spread of misinformation and disinformation has led to the erosion of news trust. With social media and the ease of sharing information, false narratives and unsubstantiated claims quickly gain traction, making it difficult for audiences to discern between reliable and unreliable sources.
Confirmation bias, the tendency to seek and accept information that aligns with pre-existing beliefs, has further eroded trust in news. The algorithms used by social media platforms and personalized news feeds create filter bubbles, isolating individuals within echo chambers that reinforce their existing views. This phenomenon cuts exposure to diverse perspectives and fosters skepticism towards opposing viewpoints.
The pursuit of higher ratings and increased viewership has led most all news organizations to prioritize sensationalism and clickbait headlines.
And the lack of transparency and accountability, fueling skepticism. Concerns about undisclosed conflicts of interest, undisclosed funding sources, and undisclosed editorial biases contribute to the perception that news organizations may not be objective or truthful in their reporting.
Bottom line: We are not listening!!!
